The Trent Severn Waterway Trip

On August 13th, 2005, The Gisborne family did something that no one had ever done before. They headed out on a 6-day all-electric odyssey from their home on Lake Simcoe (near Orillia, Ontario, Canada) and went on a family boating vacation without burning a single drop of oil, aboard the "Loon", created by Monte Gisborne. A better time could not have been had and the 104-mile trip was a truly enjoyable adventure proving that water and electricity do mix. About 1/3 of the energy required to do the trip was provided by the sun and the remaining 2/3 was acquired through shore power electricity available at all marinas where the family stayed overnight.
